Four Geese of the Apocalypse

Duck, duck, duck, duck...GOOSE!

This was no pre-school children's game, and the goose wasn't tackling the picker. Have you ever noticed that geese are just plain mean? This old girl and her three cronies paddled up to this log occupied by the four ducks, climbed aboard at the very end of it and proceeded to waddle her way down the log forcing all the ducks to leave.

The geese were claiming the resting spot, you say? Oh, didn't I just wish this were the case as I watched the short-lived drama unfold?

Nope. She got to the end of the log, re-entered the water and the four of them paddled away, honking their horns in triumph over the smaller ducks. Needless to say, ducks not being too bright, they re-mounted the log to await the next round of "Duck, Duck, Goose."

Have we seen this play out in our own lives? We get nice and comfortable on our log just to have some bully come and knock us off. What do we do? Just like the ducks, we climb back on. We turn the other cheek, and now both sides of our face hurt.

Bullies, like ducks, soon get bored and go away, or meet bigger bullies.

One can only hope....duck, duck, goose, HUNTER!

(Re: disclaimer cum "get out of jail free" card)

Before you go getting your panties in a bunch, it is essential to understand that this is just an opinion site and, as such, can be subjected to scrutiny by anyone with a differing opinion. It doesn't make either opinion any more right or wrong than the other. An opinion, presented in this context, is a way of inciting others to think and, hopefully, to form opinions of their own, if they haven't already done so. This is also why, occasionally, I will present an "opinion" just to stir an emotional pot. Where it may sound like I agree with the statements made, I'm more interested in getting others to consider an alternate viewpoint.

It is my fervent hope that we keep open and active minds when reading opinions and while engaging in peaceful and constructive discussion, in an arena of mutual respect, concerning those opinions put forth. After over twenty years with military intelligence, I have come to believe engaging each other in this manner and in this arena is the way we will learn tolerance and respect for differing beliefs, cultures, and viewpoints.

We all fall from grace, some more often than others; it is part of being human. God's test for us is what we learn from the experience, and what we do afterward.
