God Will Provide

A well endowed young man,
knowing it's his last day working the yacht club,
decides to drop trou during a meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary.
Several of the ladies now employ him as their "pool man."
His college fund is secure.
“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
-- Matthew 6:25-34

I've been around the block, put through the wringer once or twice, and have found my own version of peace and happiness.  People are constantly asking me about happiness.  I tell people happiness is a frame of mind.  If you can be happy with what you have done to your life, then let the good times roll.  If not, then you have to ask my favorite question, "Why?"

Usually, the answer to this question stems from the choices we make.  I say "we" because everything we do in our lives revolves around us making a choice.  We can try to shift the blame for things that happen onto others, but their actions are driven by the same choice we made.  For instance, if you go to work for someone and it doesn't work out well for you, you made the choice to apply for the job.  You can blame the military for court marshaling you, but you made the choice to join, and then you made the choice to screw it up.  Just about everything in our lives revolves around choices we make - so own them!

If you made a poor choice, and have owned it, chances are another door of opportunity will open up for you.  Why?  Because you blame only yourself, recognizing what happened, learning from it, and are moving forward.  What is not to respect about that?  This is the ethical commitment to one's own life that makes one believe God will provide.  God has given us all the tools to succeed in this life and, instead of sitting around feeling sorry for yourself, you are making the most of what you've been gifted.

Get rid of all the debt in your life.  Get rid of all the drama and the people that cause it.  Own your choices, because they are your choices,  And, most of all, be happy always.  Remember, people are drawn to bright lights in the darkness.

Be the light.

Before you go getting your panties in a bunch, it is essential to understand that this is just an opinion site and, as such, can be subjected to scrutiny by anyone with a differing opinion. It doesn't make either opinion any more right or wrong than the other. An opinion, presented in this context, is a way of inciting others to think and, hopefully, to form opinions of their own, if they haven't already done so. This is also why, occasionally, I will present an "opinion" just to stir an emotional pot. Where it may sound like I agree with the statements made, I'm more interested in getting others to consider an alternate viewpoint.

It is my fervent hope that we keep open and active minds when reading opinions and while engaging in peaceful and constructive discussion, in an arena of mutual respect, concerning those opinions put forth. After over twenty years with military intelligence, I have come to believe engaging each other in this manner and in this arena is the way we will learn tolerance and respect for differing beliefs, cultures, and viewpoints.

We all fall from grace, some more often than others; it is part of being human. God's test for us is what we learn from the experience, and what we do afterward.

  1. Love the comic! I don't get how taking care of yourself is "God will provide", but I usually miss that kind of logic anyway. Otherwise, I agree completely :)
