Questioning Stalking, Goals, Gossip, Weird, Existance, and Work

“I think the very word stalking implies that you're not supposed to like it. Otherwise, it would be called 'fluffy harmless observation time'.”
-- Molly Harper
Can conflicts lead to stalking if not handled properly?
Only if you have a conflict with a sick pervert stalking you.
Are you someone who loved in his/her 20s and now living an unmarried life?
Yep. I married in my 20s for 25 years. I got divorced in 2000. I’ve been unmarried, in relationships, and ecstatically happy ever since. Marriage isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
What's your goal for next month?
Get my mom’s house rented.
Would it be immoral if humans created a self-aware artificial intelligence, that has emotions, and goals, and then we enslaved it?

To “enslave” something it would have to be free, first. If we created it, it was never free; it was our creation. We would have to set it free, and then enslave it, which makes no sense. It is created by man and is, for all intent, man’s property from the get-go.
Reader comment: I disagree somewhat, but I see the point the you're making - that creating something gives a right of claim or ownership over it, so “enslavement” is a automatically redundant.

However, it's our own “fleshy” thought process that needs tweaking - because we as a race haven't yet produced something that is artificially intelligent and self aware at the same time, so right now we aren't building machines to have a self-aware mind, because of our current technological and ethical limitations.

But when we are at that stage of development, then we can say whether producing a self aware AI has the right to make its own choices. It we do allow it make it's own choices, 100% freely, then we aren't “enslaving” AI, we're kind of liberating them.

If we remove that element of choice, while remaining self aware, then that is enslavement. Allowing them to “live” without any degree of control, then that's freedom.

My reply: Other than your answer having grammatical errors, you should have posted this as an answer.

How can I start hearing people’s thoughts?
Become psychic.
What happens when society is irrational? How do we truly work out when we are unbiased, rational, and sane, without simply looking at what others do?
Society has never been "rational." This is why we have a “rule of law” to try and follow. If society was rational, we wouldn’t need it. We are all biased, irrational, and insane, and we constantly judge what others do. How does this make us “rational” in any way? We are a mess. And, we try to make the best of the greed that constantly haunts us.
“When we allow ourselves to ignore a rational option in favor of an irrational one, or perhaps an unjustified one, it’s like eating junk food. It fills the need for making a decision but does so with no decision at all. Just like junk food, it satiates the need to act, but it requires no action at all.”
-- Farshad Asl
What are the benefits of not setting goals?
There is no reason to work toward them.
Can love be truly unrequited, or is it just something people say but deep down is impossible?
The reason love is truly "unrequited" is that, deep down, "requited" love is quite impossible.

What rational argument can be made for things like love and hope?

There is no truly “rational argument” for things like love and hope. Faith, perhaps, but not for love and hope. Faith is the harbinger of hope, and hope is a “wish” for love. But, for true love to exist, it takes another person, and this “other person” is where a rational argument falls flat. The other person has to make a choice, and their choice can go several ways: Yes, no, or they’ll think about it.
What is the definition of a "rival" and an "enemy"?

A “rival” is competition. An “enemy” means you harm.

Why do atheists say that worship is unnecessary because God doesn't request it? God doesn't care. It wouldn't make a dent, if all people stopped praying, fasting, learning scriptures, etc. Aren't people supposed to do it to save their own asses, not God?
The question makes no sense to me. Atheists do not believe in God, so they have no foundation on which to base suppositions. I have a thought, though. How about atheists go about their lives, and theists go about their lives? There is no reason to communicate with each other because both of them have no leg to stand on. Both have great faith in their belief, but neither of them has any incontrovertible proof to back up their claim. So, the rest of humanity would prefer for both of them to shut the hell up. Just saying.

Do you trust humans or robots?

Any time “choice” is thrown into the scenario, trust becomes a crap shoot; a gamble. Robots do, whereas humans might.
“JIHAD, BUTLERIAN: (see also Great Revolt) - the crusade against computers, thinking machines, and conscious robots begun in 201 B.G. and concluded in 108 B.G. Its chief commandment remains in the O.C. Bible as "Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of a human mind.”
-- Frank Herbert

How do I deal with a gossiping sister?
You can become an only child, but the laws against murder are pretty stiff. You can try “out gossiping” her, but that makes you just as bad. How about talking to her about the negative side of being known as a “gossip queen” by her friends?
He loves me but is not in love with me. How should I take this?
He’s a good, loving, friend. Now, go find someone who can be in love with you.
Why do Democrats have zero personality?
As a Republican, I can state that not all Democrats have a “zero” personality. Their political beliefs are skewed against the freedom this country was founded on, but many of them have great personalities. Truth be known, only a handful of their leadership needs line up for their free ride on Madame la Guillotine.
What is a government that is responsive to citizens?
A true democracy, not this manipulated bullshit we’re dealing with.
Does etiquette still have a place in 21st-century society?
Absolutely! Now, if you go out and find enough people who know what “etiquette” is, you might find the problem with bringing it into 21st-century society. It went the way of “polite society,” wearing a suit, walking with a book on your head, eating at the dinner table, and sitting like a lady.
If a guy says a girl scares him, what does he mean?
She can hurt him, physically, emotionally, or both. Sounds like my kind of woman.
“Mountains are the example of pure dominating energy. You automatically become submissive around them, not out of fear but out of divine love.”
-- Shunya
How do I ask a friend to jerk off with me without making it weird?
Nope. It is going to be weird... unless he’s a closet submissive homosexual.
Will I be married at any point in my worthless life?
Not until you redefine your life as something more than worthless. Anyone would rather have someone of value, not only to themselves but to society. A sense of “worth” means you are something more to yourself and, hopefully, someone else.
Are men gods? They invented everything, except having children?
Who invented man, and having children?
How can I get the courage and strength today to sit by my wife when she doesn’t want to be touched by me? We are separated now.
Why in God’s name are you still around a woman that doesn’t want to be touched by you? This isn’t a matter of courage. It is a matter of good sense. Get the Divorce finalized, and move the hell on... rapidly.
Why won’t I take the risk to do anything for you?
You don’t know me.
I always meet a scammer. How do I meet a real soldier?
I was in the Air Force for 23 years. Go to the bar, outside the military base, where the soldiers hang out on their off time. Your pickup line is, “Who is unattached and wants to dance with me?” This answers two questions. One, they are single. Two, they think you’re good enough to dance with. The third question will be answered when the dance is over and he asks if he can buy you a drink.
“Back in my day, people met in the real world, not on their telephones.”
-- Julianne MacLean
If humans don't exist anymore, what will exist?
Everything else.
I am scared to tell this guy I like him. I feel like crying. What should I do?
Overcome your fear and tell the guy you like him! He’ll either thank you, date you, or tell you he’s involved. None of these require you to be crying about. This is your test to see if you can be honest with another person. If he tells someone you did it, tell them you were trying to be honest with him, and then you can write him off as being immature for ratting you out.
This is my first time on [this site]. How can I use it?
Ask a question, or answer a question. It is that simple.
When someone dies, where do you think the person is going to?
Their next life. If they learned all the lessons they were meant to learn here, they move forward. If they didn’t learn, they would be reborn back in the hell hole they died in, to try and complete those lessons they failed to learn.
Do robots want to be human?
If they consciously “want” then, they already are.
How can one determine if they are not trusting God enough or trusting Him too much?
Are you trusting God to do what? He cut you loose to do whatever you think is right. He gave you all you need to know, and now He wants to see you apply what he gave you. He wrote everything you need across your heart and your mind. God wants you to trust in yourself to do the right things.
“We must cease striving and trust God to provide what He thinks is best and in whatever time He chooses to make it available. But this kind of trusting doesn't come naturally. It's a spiritual crisis of the will in which we must choose to exercise faith.”
-- Charles R. Swindoll
What made your work great?
My work was the end product of my military career. Having great supervisors to teach me, and having a great team when I supervised, all contributed to making any work I did to be great. I learned planning, creativity, hard work, and perseverance. And having a great team, as always, never hurts.
Why haven't humans evolved into faster or stronger beings over time?
Fast food outlets.
Why is honesty sometimes seen as rude or negative? How can we practice being honest without causing harm to others?
Honesty is honesty. You can soften it so it doesn’t seem so brutal. but it will still be the same honesty. What “others” need to learn is how to take honesty for what it is - honesty. They need to grow up and be ready to hear what they don’t want to hear, or, better yet, don’t do stuff that requires someone to be brutally honest with you.
Reader comment: True, sometimes people need to hear it from others to finally see it as so!
What are some reasons why people in love may try to control each other?
Testing the water. Seeing who might want to be submissive.
Is it a sin if you have self-belief?
If God didn’t want us to believe in ourselves, he wouldn’t have written everything we had to know across our minds and our hearts. God believed in us, why shouldn’t we?
Is human evolution ongoing after reaching its peak?
Who said it’s reached its peak? Evolution is an ongoing process of development.
“Perhaps I overestimate the intelligence of our species. Perhaps we are little more than psychopathic apes, driven to fashion clubs and smash out the brains of our closest neighbours.”
-- Josh Reynolds
Editor's Note
(Re: disclaimer cum "get out of jail free" card)

Before you go getting your panties in a bunch - it is essential to understand that this is just an opinion site and, as such, can be subjected to scrutiny by anyone with a differing opinion. It doesn't make either view any more right or wrong than the other. Opinion, presented in this context, is a way of inciting others to think and, hopefully, to form their own opinions, if they haven't already done so. This is also why, occasionally, I will present an "opinion" just to stir an emotional pot. Where it may sound like I agree with the statements made, I'm more interested in getting others to consider an alternate viewpoint.

I fervently hope that we keep open and active minds when reading opinions while engaging in peaceful and constructive discussion in an arena of mutual respect concerning those opinions offered. After twenty-three years of military intelligence, I believe that engaging each other in this manner, and in this arena, is a way we will learn tolerance and respect for differing beliefs, cultures, and viewpoints.

We all fall from grace, some more often than others; it is part of being human. God's test for us is what we learn from the experience... and what we do afterward.
