Birth of the Christ Remembrance Day!

I wish I could wish you all a merry Christmas when the day grows nigh but, even though Christ is in the word, it is now politically incorrect to think of it in the religious context, so the best I've come up with will be, "Happy Birth of the Christ Remembrance Day, and may God bless us, everyone!"

I think we should seriously consider changing the name of the day anyway.  We should petition Pope Francis to do this while he is head of the Catholic Church.  He's a forward thinking kind of guy that's like to shake things up a bit.  Christmas, after all, is a Catholic invention and, therefore, they should be able to do with it what they will.  It is my understanding "Mass" literally means "death sacrifice" which makes wishing anyone a "merry" Christmas kind weird, and Christ was actually born in the fall, not the middle of winter.  The pagans will be upset because we make use many pagan traditions, but this will be short lived as whatever they deem proper to call the day will continue to be celebrated "religiously" on the same day it has always been.  Christians just need to bond and come up with a better plan, a unified Christian plan, that no one will take issue with.

Nice thought?  Maybe, but somebody will always be offended as it is what some folks live for - to make otherwise happy people miserable.  If the offended have to make themselves miserable, it only seems right, to them, that the rest of us should wallow in the same pit.  This is their idea of equal treatment.

Well, poor things.  May God bless them and love them.  Someone has to.

Oh, by the way, I'll be wishing everyone a merry Christmas this year, as always.  Why start bowing to PC now?  Heck, I might even go for the real gusto... and mention Jesus.

Note from Pastor Tony, the founder of the Congregation for Religious Tolerance, as well as the author and editor of "The Path," the Congregation's official blogsite:

Before you go getting your panties in a bunch, it is essential to understand that this is just an opinion site and, as such, can be subjected to scrutiny by anyone with a differing opinion.  It doesn't make either opinion any more right or wrong than the other.  An opinion, presented in this context, is a way of inciting others to think and, hopefully, to form opinions of their own, if they haven't already done so.

It is my fervent hope that we keep open and active minds when reading opinions and then engaging in peaceful, constructive, discussion and debate in an arena of mutual respect concerning the opinions put forth.  After over twenty years as a military intelligence analyst, planner, and briefer, I have come to believe engaging each other in this manner and in this arena is the way we will learn tolerance and respect for differing beliefs, cultures, and viewpoints.

We all fall from grace, some more often than others; it is part of being human.  God's test for us is what we do afterward, and what we learn from the experience.

Frank Anthony Villari, Pastor
