History of the World

“If you don't know history, then you don't know anything. You are a leaf that doesn't know it is part of a tree. ”
-- Michael Crichton

The "history of the world" is a matter of fact cloaked in believable falsehoods. But, this is what we must navigate through to discern our reality. Do we know anything?  Does a leaf know it is part of a tree? We, for the most part, find it easier to let others guide our "knowledge" than to take the time to ferret out the "facts" for ourselves.

"History is when a wish becomes reality, and when reality becomes a legacy." I wrote this some time ago.  The more I read it, the more it makes sense.  History is, in fact, our legacy.  It matters not if the legacy is good or bad, it only matters that it is fact. Uncompromised reality is a fact.  If one's "reality" is compromised by mental illness or other means, their "reality" becomes in question.

Unfortunately, there are forces at work in society that compromise what we think is reality. The media and mega-corporations would have us believe what they want us to believe.  They would have us swallow their false reality in order to control the way we think. They would make us, the leaves, believe we are not part of the tree.  If we are not part of the whole, then we are, for all intent and purpose, alone.  A person alone can be easily conquered.  A country of people who think they are alone... well... is this all a conspiracy theory?  Maybe, but look around you, and consider the "facts" you think you know, before you make that quantum leap into belief.

What is "real" is a matter of belief.  What you decide to believe, is true for you. This is a bit of a quandary, at least until reality unfolds before all of our eyes.  Until then, we only have mass media to contend with, and that is, unfortunately, a dicey proposition.

The "history of the world" is changing with every discovery we make.  We learn more about what went before, and we learn how to make things better, despite some efforts to derail the train of progress. Will we ever be ready to accept reality? That depends on the purveyors of falsehoods. But, if history teaches us anything, it is that the truth will become apparent, despite the best efforts of those wishing to be in control.

“The most effective way to destroy people is to deny and obliterate their own understanding of their history.”
-- George Orwell

(Re: disclaimer cum "get out of jail free" card)

Before you go getting your panties in a bunch - it is essential to understand that this is just an opinion site and, as such, can be subjected to scrutiny by anyone with a differing opinion. It doesn't make either view any more right or wrong than the other. Opinion, presented in this context, is a way of inciting others to think and, hopefully, to form their own opinions, if they haven't already done so. This is also why, occasionally, I will present an "opinion" just to stir an emotional pot. Where it may sound like I agree with the statements made, I'm more interested in getting others to consider an alternate viewpoint.

I fervently hope that we keep open and active minds when reading opinions, and while engaging in peaceful and constructive discussion, in an arena of mutual respect, concerning those opinions offered. After twenty-three years of military intelligence, I believe that engaging each other in this manner, and in this arena, is a way we will learn tolerance and respect for differing beliefs, cultures, and viewpoints.

We all fall from grace, some more often than others; it is part of being human. God's test for us is what we learn from the experience... and what we do afterward.
