Questioning Ugly, Stupid, Lessons, New, Sex, Respect, and Spying

“The ugly and stupid have the best of it in this world. They can sit at their ease and gape at the play. If they know nothing of victory, they are at least spared the knowledge of defeat. They live as we all should live-- undisturbed, indifferent, and without disquiet. They never bring ruin upon others, nor ever receive it from alien hands. Your rank and wealth, Henry; my brains, such as they are-- my art, whatever it may be worth; Dorian Gray's good looks-- we shall all suffer for what the gods have given us, suffer terribly.”
-- Oscar Wilde

Why am I such a stupid and ugly loser and nobody likes me?
Because you think you are a “stupid and ugly loser and nobody likes” you. If you change your attitude, you might find that you are personable and that many people like you. Attitude has much to do with what we wish to be. Stop being the stupid and ugly loser.
With an awareness of your weakness, what kind of people should you seek to surround yourself with?
My “brothers in arms” is the most likely group. My military brothers have never let me down, and I don’t expect them to, anytime soon.
Have any of you become successful without university? I just got rejected because I missed entry requirements by one grade and need some hope stories.
I went to Jr. College for 2 years, then joined the Air Force for 23 years. After the Air Force, I was hired by an Institutional Review Board for 17 years. I was called back from my retirement in Mexico to help the President of the IRB to be “boots on the ground” to rebuild a country club. I retired at 59. I never had the time to go to university, and I am retired, living the good life. I feel I was very lucky, though.
If someone at work says you're their favorite coworker but you 2 are not friends, will they likely say that to other people too?
Probably.
If atheism was true, how do atheists explain that even after I asked an atheist several times where his church was, he wouldn't say? Why do you need to congregate in secret if it's true?
Atheists don’t believe in religion or worshipping a “god.” If you ask where their “church” is, you are ignorant of their general belief. There is a segment of “faux” atheists that have symbology and meetings. They might as well have a church. These are a splinter group that does not represent true atheism. Atheists just don’t believe in God, and they do not need any of the trappings of religion.
What things do you try to do to become a better person?
Selflessness. Look it up.
“Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them.”
-- Dalai Lama XIV
What are the lessons people learn after a breakup?
What to do in the next relationship. Relationships are all about learning.
How come long skirts are domineering, close-minded, bigoted, tough, and unforgiving compared to short skirts, who are open-minded, friendly, and adventurous? The formers are also strict and serious and often domineer the latter. Why are all of this?
If you like women who like showing off their legs, this is your bag. Personally, I like the mystery of the long skirt. You really have no idea what is under there. If she is domineering, you might have to become “submissive to her will” to find out the secret she finds a need to hide. Whatever you need to do, it could be worth the trouble. I find long skirts worth the effort. But, that’s just me.
How do you understand the structure of something?
By the study of the idea, the material, the construction, and those who constructed it.
From a psychological and instinctive perspective, what is the explanation for the human beings’ pursuit of power?
There is little “instinctive” about it. The “pursuit of power” has two reasons: To right a wrong, or to be powerful. To right a wrong is laudable. To be powerful requires you to lie to the people. Kamala Harris should be righting as wrong. She has a bumpy road ahead of her.
Can you name some books that teach us about determination and never giving up?
Norman Vincent Peale, “The Power of Positive Thinking”. Still the standard.
What is likely to happen, in a society with no positive value?
You end up with a Government run by an oligarchy. Russia has been a prime example. North Korea is another. The country is run by a well-placed ego. Those who have much, and those who have so much less. Politics would put the United States in this category... if we don't think carefully.
“Both oligarch and tyrant mistrust the people, and therefore deprive them of their arms.”
-- Aristotle
I am new here. Can I get someone to ask questions from?
What you want are answers. This is why you ask questions. Someone will find your question interesting enough to answer it.
Do you like living in your civilisation of putrid human shit?
Do you? Life is all about learning. I can say, having lived poor, middle class, and upper class, I have seen no “putrid shit” that wasn’t the fault of the person complaining of it. If you don’t like where you’ve ended up, try changing your thinking. Life belongs to the human living it. By the way, the U.S. spelling is "civilization", not what you have.
How important are philosophers?
If they're good, they make people think. If they're bad, they waste people’s time and effort.
In what ways do you think societal expectations shape the way we approach and maintain relationships, and how can we challenge these norms?
We tend to have relationships at the societal level that we aspire to or the level we are in. Rarely, do we break the seal and have a relationship with someone in a lower societal strata, unless they, also, are trying to escape their norm. No matter how we try to spin this, every country has a “caste” system. It is just sad.

What is philosophy, and who are philosophers?

You have a computer. Look up the definition of “philosophy,” and a list of “philosophers” from ancient Greece to the present. I will not do the work you will learn from doing.'
Were you born stupid, or did you suffer brain damage?
No one is truly born stupid. We are born with differing learning aptitudes. This works for society so dishwashers aren’t doctors… unless they working while in college. Everyone has an aptitude, and everyone can’t be a rocket scientist. Those that don’t know, are ignorant, not stupid. The fact you use the term “stupid” and make the guess of brain damage, might say more about you, than me… unfortunately.
“Never judge someone's character based on the words of another. Instead, study the motives behind the words of the person casting the bad judgment. An honest woman can sell tangerines all day and remain a good person until she dies, but there will always be naysayers who will try to convince you otherwise. Perhaps this woman did not give them something for free or at a discount. Perhaps too, she refused to stand with them when they were wrong — or just stood up for something she felt was right. And also, it could be that some bitter women are envious of her, or that she rejected the advances of some very proud men. Always trust your heart. If the Creator stood before a million men with the light of a million lamps, only a few would truly see him because truth is already alive in their hearts. Truth can only be seen by those with truth in them. He who does not have Truth in his heart will always be blind to her.”
-- Suzy Kassem
Have you had sex with a married coworker?
Of course.
Could your enemy claim that you have stupid assumptions out of jealousy?
Your enemy will claim anything, constantly, until people start believing it. This is right out of the Democrat playbook. Ask Harris. No, she will lie... again.
Is it legal to have sex with yourself?
If it isn’t, I’m going to prison.
Should stupid people be killed?
No, they are ignorant. They need to be trained, not killed. Killing them was a "solution" exercised by the Third Reich, in Germany, during WW II.
Can I tell the truth?
Always tell the truth. I have no filter so I... kind of, "always" tell the truth.
Will a prostitute have bare sex if that's what I prefer?
You are paying them, so what you want is important to the contract. Not all of them will agree to it, so you have to shop around. It is not unheard of, so it should be pretty simple.
“We call our country home of the brave and land of the free, but it's not. We give a false portrayal of freedom. We're not free — if we were, we'd allow people their freedom. Prohibiting something doesn't make it go away. Prostitution is criminal, and bad things happen because it's run illegally by dirtbags who are criminals. If it's legal, then the girls could have health checks, unions, benefits, anything any other worker gets, and it would be far better.”
-- Jesse Ventura
How can I be more respectful of conservative stupidity?
You can’t. You can call it ignorance, instead of stupidity. But it still means that the conservatives are just as “stupid” as the Democrats. It is what it is. One of these days the lying in politics will end. Until then, respect is at arm’s length.
Why do some humans have more empathy for animals, especially dogs than humans?
Humans can have empathy for themselves. Animals, not so much.
Should I admit to something I didn't do to save a marriage?
No. If the marriage is on that razor edge, it is time to stop cutting bait and go fish. If the marriage can handle a bit of honesty, maybe, there is a chance of saving it. But, if you have to lie to save it, the marriage is all but over.
How can I show my kindness and sympathy towards pedophiles?
I thought about this, long and hard. No, you can't.
What should be done if a married partner leaves and then, asks for forgiveness?
You can give them probation, but, if they have left once, they can do it again. They are done, in my book. And I don’t care how great the sex was. A marriage is not worth this kind of heartache.
Can forgiveness help rebuild trust in relationships and marriages?
It can help, but you will always know they lost the trust. When will the next time be?
“I'm not upset that you lied to me, I'm upset that from now on I can't believe you.”
-- Friedrich Nietzsche
Should a husband keep checking his wife's phone?
Only if he doesn’t trust her. At this point, the marriage is on the rocks. If there is no trust in marriage, then why continue being married? Trust in marriage is paramount.
Do theists enjoy having an ego?
No more than an atheist.
Should Trump supporting be classified as stage 4 brain damage?
That would make Democrats… dead, and on their way to the morgue. You’ve sipped too much Kool-Aid.
What is the most common identity among people?
Name or gender.
Why is it so hard for my husband to give, and show, me respect as his wife?
You should have noticed this before you got married. Confront him about it. Tell him that his behavior has to stop or you are leaving him. You need as much respect as he does.
The world is better off without me. It's true. How is it not true?
One less person with a brain makes it not true. Do something to make the world better. It is your choice.
“One of the most important things you can do on this earth is to let people know they are not alone.”
-- Shannon L. Alder

Before you go getting your panties in a bunch - it is essential to understand that this is just an opinion site and, as such, can be subjected to scrutiny by anyone with a differing opinion. It doesn't make either view any more right or wrong than the other. Opinion, presented in this context, is a way of inciting others to think and, hopefully, to form their own opinions, if they haven't already done so. This is also why, occasionally, I will present an "opinion" just to stir an emotional pot. Where it may sound like I agree with the statements made, I'm more interested in getting others to consider an alternate viewpoint.

I fervently hope that we keep open and active minds when reading opinions while engaging in peaceful and constructive discussion in an arena of mutual respect concerning those opinions offered. After twenty-three years of military intelligence, I believe that engaging each other in this manner, and in this arena, is a way we will learn tolerance and respect for differing beliefs, cultures, and viewpoints.

We all fall from grace, some more often than others; it is part of being human. God's test for us is what we learn from the experience... and what we do afterward.

No Prisoner the Mind (Updated from 7/27/2015)

The body was crippled up, probably with ALS, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Lou Gehrig's disease, he wasn't as bad as Stephen Hawking, but he was still young.  I assumed time would not be his friend.  He looked to be in his thirties; it is hard to tell with the body surrendering itself to physical ravages of its own making.  The body didn't move much and the face seemed to remain emotionless as the eyes constantly wandered through his surroundings, locking on this person or that, for only a moment before pressing on.

I was much too focused on watching him to consciously understand what I was now seeing.  I became aware only when our eyes met, two blank stares, and my mouth slightly open as if trying to verbalize the "whoops" I was thinking, being caught staring.

His head was cocked to one side as if the effort to hold it up was more than the body wanted to deal with.  His eyebrow suddenly hitched up, as if to confirm he'd caught me. An accusation I could not deny.  My only way out was to do what I always do - fall back and punt.

I closed my stupid mouth, cocked my head slightly to one side, and arched my eyebrow, mocking him and, yet, not with the intent to poke fun.  He smiled in a silent understanding. I returned the smile and noticed his finger was slightly moving as if to point toward the floor, his eyes moving in tandem with the finger.  I, once again, understood.  I had dropped my sunglasses.  I reached down, retrieved them, and mouthed a silent thank you.  He smiled again, just as his caregiver returned.  His eyes glanced up to acknowledge her, then back to me as the wheelchair was moved off down the hall, a silent goodbye passed between us, and he was gone.

This is not my first encounter with the wheelchair-bound. Those who seem to be prisoners of their dysfunctional bodies.  It seems to me, the younger folks deal with these maladies much better than the older of us.  Maybe it's because we know what we're losing.  We know how our lives are going to change.  This isn't losing a limb. Being paralyzed is as close as I'd think one can get.  You lose the ability to communicate without extreme effort. Yet, there is communication.  One has to wonder if Stephen Hawking would have accomplished as much in theoretical physics, were he to have a normal life where his mind could be cluttered by minutia. But, instead, we are enjoying the fruits of his captive mind.

One might wonder about the cruelty of God, and what this particular test of resolve would possibly accomplish for the poor soul I met or the people around them.  Like most of us, I selfishly thought of how, but for the grace of this same God, went my children, grandchildren... or, me.  Is this poor soul enduring all of this as a reminder for the rest of us to be ever thankful for the small things we take so much for granted?

This is not a test for them, at all. It is, rather, a test for someone else. Is this "crippled person" simply playing out their role in a greater drama God has written for another?  Or, could it be that, in the next life, this suffering will serve them well in a much more important time, we will witness? Perhaps, a time when people, able to endure suffering, will lead others from darkness.  They will be of greater value to the selfish who ignored them.

Stephen Hawking has taken to the belief there is no God, while other physicists are proving to themselves that the universe is nothing, if not proof, of a divine hand.  Is the difference his ALS?  Does he assign blame?  And, if he does, is this the reason for denying God? Could it be that, not assigning blame, is a contradiction?
"There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy."
-- Hamlet (1.5.167-8)
When I think I have this down pat, once again I find myself all the poorer for not having taken time to know the person at the beginning of this post. At the very least, I could have introduced myself to him and treated the young man with respect due to another human being,  and not acted like everyone else saw him as an oddity to be gawked at in life. A shortcoming, I must still work on, is the humility to move passed my selfish embarrassment of having acknowledged their existence, and into the realm of common courtesy to another, equal, person.

I still have much to learn. Don't we all?
“Too often, we thoughtlessly relegate things to the ever-dimming periphery of our lives, eventually jostling them off the edges to some ill-defined oblivion because we assume that we are done with them. The problem is, they may not be done with us.”

Questioning Wealth, Gender, Faiure, Behavior, Sex, and Company

“I think that, people are people. That's why the way I treat the lady working in the deli who slices my ham is the same way I treat my friend who drives a Chrysler. That's why the way I treat the guy who packs my groceries is the same way I treat my rich friends. Because people are people. Some are rich and some are poor, and they're all people.”
-- C. JoyBell C.

Why is there such a huge divide between the rich and the poor?

I’ll bet it has to do with money.
Why do some atheists choose not to discuss the topic of God?
Why discuss what you don’t believe in? It is a waste of time better spent on reality. Neither theists nor atheists have any proof of their argument. If you have no proof, then, why get into a discussion? It makes no sense.
Why are there about 10 people on Earth who are truly open-minded compared to everyone else?
I’ll bet there are more. I mean, 10 people? Really? On the entire planet?
Are religious people stupid or smart?
They are the same as non-religious people. Some are smart and some are ignorant. You can’t segregate people to make an argument seem intelligent. It just doesn’t work, especially when it comes to a subject that neither atheists nor theists have any proof to back up their beliefs.
Who is a religious atheist?
That is an oxymoron unless you consider Buddhists.
Reader comment: Many Buddhists (one of the largest religions in the world) are atheists… so, no it isn't an oxymoron, just facts.
My reply: Buddhism is more of a philosophy of life than it is a “religion,” per se. But, I will relent.
How would you respond to someone who says, "Atheists fear God"?
Why would atheists fear who they don’t believe in? The statement makes no sense, especially to atheists.
“That which can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.”
-- Christopher Hitchens
Would you in a university share a room with the opposite gender?
Oh, hell yes! But, only if she agrees.
Am I bad to want revenge? I feel like I’ve always been letting people do me wrong, and now I am tired.
Revenge is always wrong. Karma will take care of them now or down the road. Pay attention to not letting people do you wrong, that way you don’t have to think about revenge for what you let happen.
Who’s someone you know who has too much time on your hands?
My girlfriend.
Why am I not allowed to give up fighting when it's been eating up my energy?
Are you someone’s slave? Who is not allowing you to take care of yourself? If you aren’t someone’s slave, you have a “free will” to do what you must.
What are some reasons why people may ask for more than they are worth?
Unreasonable greed.
Who is credited with saying the quote, "The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, but belief."?
It is this:

“The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge.”
-- Daniel Boorstin
Does failing make people purposely hate you? If yes. What names do they call you?
“Failing” is life telling you to do better. It is a problem that you need to pay attention to. I don’t care what people call me, or if they hate me. Focussing on the problem is the only thing I need to do. What other people do or say, says more about them than it does about me. I will still be on the problem while they are still finding fault. It is what it is.
What's the nicest surprise you got while traveling?

I was in the Air Force, returning from Sicily, and the flight attendant said there was an extra first-class seat. I flew to the U.S. in style.
I'm over my ex now, and I want to make him jealous so he knows what he's missing. What do I do?
Let it go. Enjoy your new life.

Does having more suffering or difficulties in life, make you more grateful, or does it make you bitter?

Suffering and difficulties are a minor part of life. They remind you that shit happens, and it is usually your fault. You take what life gives you. You smile, say thank you, and continue on your way. Anything else propagates drama, and there is way too much of that already.

If you could only have one trait in a partner-honesty or loyalty-which would you choose and why?
Honesty. If they are disloyal, they will admit to it… because they are honest.

How do I let people go when they want to, and not chase or push situations, believing I can fix the problem in our relationship (whether friendly or romantic)? I get in this rut too often.
So stop. You aren’t a “fix-all” to problems, even if they are yours. It is what it is. We are here in this life to learn from issues that crop up. Learn, not necessarily fix. Learn where things went wrong and try not to do the same thing next time.
“Letting go means to come to the realization that some people are a part of your history, but not a part of your destiny.”
-- Steve Maraboli
What are 5 critical factors that may contribute to young people deciding to engage in risky behaviors?
Peer pressure, bad critical thinking, having no filter, bad parenting, and an uncontrollable ego.
What is something India has that everyone wants? And Why?
Rubies. A king’s ransom. Some of the best.
Which is greater, a human being or religion?
Without human beings, there would be no religion. So, human beings are greater than religion, if you’re a theist. If you’re an atheist, on the other hand, they don’t recognize religion, so, again, humans are greater.
How do Chinese men keep their wives?
Under their thumb.
As a man, why do you love your wife?
I loved my wife because I thought she was special. I hate being right most of the time. She was special at getting under my skin. She was special at finding ways not to love me. She was special to so many other people. Again, I hate being right, most of the time. I still love her, it is a switch I can’t turn off. I just can’t be around her, for obvious reasons.
How many idiots can you fit in one basket?
It depends on the size of the basket.
“To every rule, there is an exception - and an idiot ready to demonstrate it. Don't be the one!”
-- Vera Nazarian
What would you like to see me do to your wife?
At this point in my life, I could really give a shit.
Can you explain the concept of a partner in a marriage?
They are invested, as you are, in making the marriage pay dividends. They are your best friend and your equal. And, whenever one of you dies, the world will come crashing down. You are each other’s right hand, and if it’s gone…
Was sex as good as you expected?
Better.
Should we start getting rid of atheists for a better society?
No. They are the balance in a world with many “God” theories. They create a discussion where no discussion would be. Atheists create more room in the afterlife, where no room would exist if we all believed in a God.
Dominants, what are your expectations of your submissives?
To be submissive. It isn’t rocket science. I say and you do.
Why does the sin of atheism outweigh all others?
It is only a “sin” to theists. It “outweighs all others” because it denies God. And denying God, well, when you die, that’s it… unless God wants you to know you’re wrong, and will make you pay the price for denying Him.
“Is man merely a mistake of God's? Or is God merely a mistake of man?”
-- Friedrich Nietzsche
Why does no one enjoy my company?
The only way I wouldn’t enjoy your company is if you’re an asshole.
Who are the most hate-filled people you know, and how do they express that hate?
Atheists. They express that hate through long rants full of colorful epitaphs. The problem is, that neither theists nor atheists have an incontrovertible argument they can prove.
How do I check my wife?
Do you see your middle finger?
What should a man sacrifice for his wife or girlfriend?
His love for any other woman he has targeted. He has to give up any other romantic tryst that he might be open to or might consider in the future. This is what he should sacrifice. But, it doesn’t always work out that way. Both parties are usually players.
Would you allow your wife to have an affair?
What do you mean by allow? My “ex” did what she wanted.
In your opinion, who deserves respect and how much should they be given?
I will give the same respect I get, regardless of their ideology. If they are stuck up, I can math their effort. If they think they are better than me, they had better be. I will follow military and political courtesy, to the point when they think they are better, then, all bets are off.
“I speak to everyone in the same way, whether he is the garbage man or the president of the university.”
-- Albert Einstein

Questioning Change, Donations, Alone, Active, Strong, and God

“Children begin by loving their parents; as they grow older they judge them; sometimes they forgive them.”
-- Oscar Wilde

***********************************

A little "ego" on my part, which I rarely go to.  It seems I have crossed a barrier of viewers. According to this site, I have crossed the 2,502,646 views of my humble offerings.  I will continue to publish so my followers can "read my thoughts"... since I have no filter. Thank you all, for paying attention. I am humbled, even more.

***********************************

If you could live your life over again, what would you keep the same, and what would you change? What does that say about your current understanding of purpose?
I would pay more attention to my parents. It has nothing to do with my understanding of purpose, but, it has much to do with family.
Is it possible to be jealous of yourself? If so, how can I stop this?
I was assigned to my first military base and became infatuated with a darling girl. I didn’t know what she saw in me. She came to the Intelligence building, looking for me, to plan a date. She was all blonde, with short dresses and high heels. I was very jealous of myself, not knowing what I had done to deserve this. Stop this? Oh, hell no. I like being jealous of myself.
My brother has absolutely no respect for me or my sisters and I've talked to him about it so many times he won’t listen and I’m always caring toward him. What do I do?
Ignore him. Love takes many turns. This one demands that you ignore him. Live your life. If he wonders why you seem to be ignoring him, tell him. It might be the honesty he needs.
Why can't a person discover themselves while in a relationship?

Because you’re too focused on the relationship. The “relationship” is supposed to be a true friendship. In a true friendship, you don’t have to worry about the relationship. It will take care of itself, while you take care of you and your partner can take care of themselves. This is what a true friendship is all about, time for yourself, and time for your partner.
What is the secret of a happy married life?
True friendship.
When you reflect on your life, so far, what moments stand out as the most meaningful, and why?
I earned the “Air Force Meritorious Service Medal” for my Intelligence work. I earned less important medals, but that AFMSM one was the first icing on the cake. It helped me stay on for 23 years.
“Reflect upon your present blessings -- of which every man has many -- not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.”
-- Charles Dickens
What could 8 billion dollars do if someone donated to help this world?
Not so much.
Why did my ex stop talking to me completely after we broke up?
I stopped talking to my ex when I got the divorce. What was she going to tell me? That all the men she slept with weren’t me? I never talked to her again, and if she tried to call me about visitation of my children, I called the lawyer. I had no use for her. My life was much happier.
What happens if you’re too good for the world?
It’s the only world you have. Deal with it.
Can someone born into a life of luxury and privilege, be considered poor? Why or why not?
If their parents demand that they make their way in the world, then yes, they would considered poor.
Is it better to remain single rather than marry someone who does not have the intention of staying married to you?
Well, no shit. Do I not understand the question?
How much does a man spend on a wife in a lifetime?
It varies, depending on the partnership, friendship, what she wants, and what he wants to give her. He could give her all he makes, or she could make her own way in the marriage.
"Here’s the deal. When you get married, you become a team. The pastor at your wedding wasn’t joking when he said, “And now you are one.” It’s called unity. The old marriage vows say, “Unto thee, I pledge all my worldly goods.” In other words, “I’m all in,” so combine the checking accounts. It’s hard to have unity when you separate your bank accounts. When his money is over here, and her money is over there, it’s easy to live in your own little financial world instead of working as a team."
-- Dave Ramsey
I love to be alone so that I will understand myself better. What should I do?
Go camping.
How would you describe someone with a lot of money, but doesn't seem to care about it, or have a "rich attitude"?
I know a guy who lives on social security, a military pension, and the money earned in the civilian sector. He was older when his parents died. He was left with a “meager” family trust. His bankers say he should take a trip. He’s a simple guy with an old cat. When the cat goes to the “other side” he’ll think about a trip. The bankers are in charge of the meager money he has, and that’s good for him. Nobody can get their hands on it, not even him, not without reason. To him, it isn’t his money. He didn’t earn it, so he doesn’t think about it, not in that way. He is happy the way he is. He doesn’t have a “rich attitude” because he doesn’t consider himself rich.  I should be so lucky.
Is violating a person's privacy and boundaries a sign of disturbing the peace?
Disturbing that person’s peace, yes. And he can report you to the police.
What causes some individuals to believe they are superior to others and how does this affect their perception of humanness?
Intelligence can cause this. “Humanness” doesn’t even come close to their perception. They think they are superior. If you put a gun to their head they will crumple to the ground, whimpering and crying like the waste of humanity they are. They are “superior” until they are threatened, then, they are just like everybody else.
What do you look for in a perfect wife?
My best friend. My ”ex” wasn’t.
What are the societal expectations for a man to financially support his girlfriend/wife?

As I see it, looking at most of society, there seems to be no “expectation” of financial support for girlfriends. That is, not until children are factored in. Or, for the wife, if the man has any “financial support” she can glom onto. Girlfriends, if not pregnant with the man’s child, get nada, nothing. However, nowadays, if the wife is the breadwinner, the man has the same option to “steal” from her during divorce proceedings. But, these are just my thoughts.
"Allow yourself to heal and grow. The best revenge is living a happy and fulfilling life after divorce."

Are you still active on this site to answer a question?
Most of the time.
What are your expectations from others?
Nothing much. If you expect anything, from others, you will probably be disappointed. I don't even expect much from me. Even getting the car done at the dealership, I expect nothing. If the car is ready, I go. If they screwed up, I don’t. It is what it is.
Is having a healthy respect for God the same as fearing him?
If you have a "healthy respect" for God and you are a good person, why fear God?
I have not had sex with my wife in 7 years. What should I do?
Where is she having sex? Follow her, and enjoy! If she isn’t complaining, what the hell did you not do? If you want sex, and she isn’t into it, maybe you need to look elsewhere. Talk to your wife about this problem. Maybe, she has the answer you’re looking for.
What are some indicators that life may not meet one's expectations?
When your “winky” falls off.
Should you expect the worst from people?
Not with the crowd I hang around in. We always expect the best of who we are, and most of us are ex-military. Those who aren’t, learn a lot from hanging around us. Some active military learn some stuff, as well. If you expect the worst, that is what you might get. It is much better to expect the best from people.
“If you expect the worst, you'll never be disappointed.”
-- Sarah Dessen
Would you rather look weak and actually be strong or look strong and actually be weak?
Weak and strong. I have had this look since high school. It works for me.
What is one big mistake that you don't regret now?
Throughout my multiple careers, I have stood up for the little person. I have been counseled and missed rank progression. To the officers, it was a mistake. For me, it was standing up for a troop that could do better. Every person I stood up for, knew that I went to bat for them. I didn’t regret it then and certainly don’t regret it now. I would make the same argument I did then, now. By the way, I was right. They made rank and became good airmen. They made a point to thank me.
What are the potential risks and challenges, and how will you address them?
The potential risks and challenges for what? If I knew the context, I could address answers.
Is it easier for those born into wealth to work or accomplish tasks compared to those who were not born rich?
Of course. They don’t get their hands dirty by assigning others to do the dirty work. This is what wealth gives them. If they muck it up, they have others to blame.
How many hours can a B-52 stay in the air?
With refueling, as long as the aircrew can keep it aloft.
My professor pulled my phone from me, because I wasn’t paying attention in class. I feel like this is my own business, is it not?
I agree with Bia Medici:

"Professors have the right to expect students to pay attention. If that means turning off and putting away all gadgets, so be it. I don’t allow students to use their phones or tablets in my classes. If I see them, I tell them to put the gadgets on the desk up front until the class is over.

If you think that’s unreasonable, then you can and should leave the classroom, and go do whatever it is you prefer to do, elsewhere. I have no interest in wasting my time on people who are more interested in their phones than what I’m trying to teach them.

If that describes you, I’d say you’re not ready for college. Go tell your parents that you want to drop out and find a job where they let you look at your phone all day.

Good luck with that."
-- Bia Medici
Is our life governed by God?
Life is given by God, but it isn’t “governed” by God. Our life is “governed” by our choices and decisions. We need to make good choices and decisions to stay in God’s good grace.
If you had $50 billion what would you do?
Invest it to pay the taxes, and travel the world to write books.
Why does my narcissistic ex-boyfriend want me back after 3 years?
He is narcissistic, so he can’t let you go and let himself look bad. I’m sorry it took him 3 years to realize he made a big mistake. Your answer to him would be to give him the finger. That will just set him off. Basically… he has lost his game. One can only surmise, he has lost all the other girls, as well. Losing you, well, like I said, it will set him off.
Do you believe in God? Answer in 'yes' or 'no'.
Yes, but not the Christian God. I have my own spiritual belief in God.
Do people use Quora as any sort of point of reference for knowledge these days because I do wonder sometimes lol, what is the main purpose of this platform I ask? I wouldn't come on here to read any answer and take it for gospel so what is the point?
But, yet, you ask a question. Knowing you won’t take the answer as gospel. So, what’s your point? By the way, your sentences run on a bit. Punctuation might help. Oh! I'm sorry. I gave you some information. Screw me...
What can a woman offer a man so that he will not leave her for another woman?
Oral sex, that might leave him breathless… and wanting.
“Clinton lied. A man might forget where he parks or where he lives, but he never forgets oral sex, no matter how bad it is.”
-- Barbara Bush

The Enemy of Life (Updated from 7/26/2015)

"ISIL is not 'Islamic.' No religion condones the killing of innocents, and the vast majority of ISIL's victims have been Muslim. And, ISIL is certainly not a state; it was formerly al Qaeda's affiliate in Iraq and has taken advantage of sectarian strife and Syria's civil war to gain territory on both sides of the Iraq-Syrian border. It is recognized by no government nor by the people it subjugates... ISIL is a terrorist organization, pure and simple, and it has no vision other than the slaughter of all who stand in its way."
-- Barrack Obama, former U.S. President

When I started this post, I considered going with shock and awe for an opening photo; a photo of the bloodied, headless body of a small child butchered by these heretics.  I opted not to offend some of my reader's delicate sensibilities, but the image of this small child is exactly the point and should be the image all of us take into the fight against these monsters of the "Islamic" state. By the way, Obama is full of shit. Muslims kill their own, and they will kill us.  It is what they do, contrary to Islamic doctrine.

It's not our battle!  This is the battle cry of the future victims of atrocity.  Innocence is being murdered in the world, and if you don't take a stand against it, for the sake of the innocent, there will be no one left to take a stand when the monsters come for you.  It truly comes down to, "If not now, when?"

If we were to believe in a peaceful Islamic culture, this would be an Islamic issue.  Islam should be leading the fight against their own shame; their own insane, murderous heretics that misinterpret the Qur'an, to fulfill their own, sick, agenda of terror, murder, and rape.  If Islam doesn't take a loud, visible stand against this horror, they are condoning it, and the world will eventually tire of the insanity... and "snap!"  Mosques will burn, and even peaceful Muslims will be deemed as big a threat to those murderous terrorists they said nothing against.  Their silence will, indeed be seen as condoning evil, and, for many of us, it already is.  Vigilantes will rule the streets, the innocent will hang, and our God will weep as a true religious war engulfs the world - Islam against everyone.  Iran, and those countries immediately downwind, will become a radioactive wasteland in our effort to stem the tide of terror.  In the end, what is left of Islam will be a shadow of a once great culture that gave the world so much in the name of Allah.  Sadly, the world will spend the next one hundred years learning nothing from the experience, as is our norm.  History will continue to repeat, again, and again, ad nauseam.

Is there really any difference between Adolf Hitler and the ruling Ayatollah? Like Hitler, the Ayatollah wants world domination and is willing to destroy innocence, and the world, to attain this goal.

Muhammad's "Qur'an" has been reinterpreted to allow a denial of the faith, lying, cheating, and murder of the innocent, as long as whatever is done is for the continued spread of their hypocrisy.  This is what the new interpretation says Allah represents.  I'm sure this makes the "faithful" so proud, or they would be creating such an uproar as to drown out any that would dare accuse them of following the Islamic state of terrorism.

Soldiers deserve soldiers in battle, not this cowardly rabble that has taken territory through terror and intimidation.  Soldiers deserve to fight real men, not cowards who cover their faces and cut five-year-old children in half to ineffectively prove some sad "Islamic" definition of manhood.  Any insane lunatic can burn people in cages, drown babies in a fifty-gallon drum, and cut heads off of living beings.  This isn't being a man or a soldier.  This is an example of being insane, and there is no cure for this insanity, other than extermination.  The rest of the world should excise this cancer from the world society before we lose another great culture.  This disease has already destroyed many of the rich historical buildings and artifacts cherished by much of the Middle East.

This is not a war. We must send a clear message, this behavior will not be tolerated by the civilized world. If we don't, we are doomed to relive this in the future like the dregs of cancer not fully removed from the body.  There must be no prisoners. The must be no quarter given. No civil or human rights, no legal recourse.  We all need to suck it up, once again, and go do that which must be done, to save all that we hold dear.
“The extremists are afraid of books and pens, the power of education frightens them. they are afraid of women.”

Questioning Thoughts, Ex, Birth, Suicide, Thanks, and Children

“People can’t hear what you don’t say. Thinking isn’t communicating.”
-- Frank Sonnenberg

How come people can read my thoughts but I can’t read theirs?
They aren’t reading your thoughts. They look at your face and take a blind stab at what you might be thinking. You must be easy to read.
Why would my girlfriend say that there might be someone else in the future?
You are history. She has eyes on another person. That just sucks.
How many men can date one woman?
It depends on the woman. I’d give her 7 men, one for each day. More than that and she might confuse herself.
My girlfriend says that she might like someone else in the future. What should I do?
Dump her, now. Why wait for her to dump you?
Is there a typical amount of time for an ex to regret cheating, and try to reconcile?
Reconcile? They would be an idiot. Cheating gets into your blood. Do it once, do it many times. It is about the excitement, not about the person they cheat with.
What do I do if she is thinking of leaving me?
Leave her first. Why wait on her?
“To be rejected by someone doesn't mean you should also reject yourself, or, that you should think of yourself as a lesser person. It doesn't mean that nobody will ever love you anymore. Remember that only ONE person has rejected you at the moment, and it only hurt so much because, to you, that person's opinion symbolized the opinion of the whole world, of God.”
-- Jocelyn Soriano
Is it good to keep a friendship with your ex?
I wish I could, but I don’t trust her.
What would you advise your child, or another child, on how to live life?
Be very happy in whatever you choose to do, and whoever you have chosen to do. No drama and no regrets. If you aren’t truly happy... life will suck, sooner or later. This will be a bad thing. Always strive to be truly happy in life.
What factors can cause a man to change his views on marriage and become more committed in a relationship?
A bad divorce. You no longer think of marriage, but, you are more committed.
How would you feel if you lived an unfulfilled life?
Terrible. Thankfully, I have lived a very fulfilled life. It had its ups and downs, and some sideway motion, but through it all, I have managed to keep my head. At 70 years, I can honestly say... my life has been wonderful.
How might someone respond if their ex-boyfriend ignores them due to his new girlfriend?
He’s an EX-boyfriend. Who gives a fig. She probably has a new boyfriend.
How do you know if your ex-wife misses you?
I don’t know, and what’s more, I really don’t care. She led me on for many years, and I am so over her. Whoever she is with, God bless him. He will need God.
“Going back to your ex is like taking back your spit from the ground.”
-- M.F. Moonzajer
Do we choose our life before birth?
I’m not so sure being “aborted” is a non-life choice you know about before choosing.
Of the 20 billion married people in history, how many have had extramarital relationships?
About half. Maybe, a little more. It becomes more the closer we get to now. Where did you get 20 billion?
Why doesn't everyone in the world contribute to my life in some way?
Whoa! Don’t you have a complex? Not everyone even knows you’re alive.
Is [this site] the land of stupid questions?
There is no stupid question if it isn’t asked more than once, by the same person. I’ve written some stupid answers, though. I have no filter.
What are some arguments against believing in God, aside from the lack of proof?

The same kind of arguments for believing in God... aside from the lack of proof.

What will happen in the afterlife if I end my own life?

You will not be reborn. That’s all there is for you. Or, you’ll be reborn back into this life until you stop killing yourself. Or, you’ll go to purgatory, to think about your actions. Whatever happens, it won’t be the best for you.
“The thought of suicide is a great consolation: by means of it one gets through many a dark night.”
-- Nietzsche

If you kill yourself, how will that affect how people view you?
I will be viewed as a coward, unable to deal with drama. But, people won't believe it.  They will be looking for murder. I am many things, but not a coward.
How do atheists know what is right and wrong without God?

They seem to do okay, until death. Then, they find out if they are right about God.
What if my husband wants to swap partners but I don’t?
Then don’t. Your life is not his. He may be looking for a divorce, and you should be thinking about it. Talk to him seriously about this.
How would you respond if I came near you, without any physical contact, and I tell you, that you must be afraid of me, as I can get angry easily?
23 years in Air Force Intelligence. Bring it. You might learn a thing or two about fear. You can’t just think you can threaten someone you don’t know. They could be more frightening than you think you are. It might not end well.
What do I do if my boyfriend asked me to send him pictures?
Send him pictures. How hard is that?
Are you happy when you buy things?
I am happiest when I see families enjoying each other, especially the father. “Dadification” has not spread enough for my taste. More dads need to be involved in family life.
"Anyone who tells you, fatherhood is the greatest thing that can happen to you, they are understating it."
-- Mike Myers
I am tired of saying "I appreciate it." What else can I say instead?
Thank you.
Is it okay to kill an annoying dog?
It isn’t okay to kill the irresponsible owner of the annoying dog, so no. You can’t kill the annoying dog because the owner will get a more annoying dog, as a replacement. Talk to the owner, then call animal control.
What do you regret that you wished you did more of?
Mildred.
I had sex with a prostitute. Now I'm feeling guilty. What should I do now?
Don’t ever have sex with a prostitute ever again. There is nothing wrong with it, if you aren’t married., except for the dangers of contracting an STD or AIDS. If you are married, I’d be very guilty and concerned. Have your doctor check you out.
What do you call a person who wants it his way?
Selfish.
What does “you’ve really done it this time” mean?
You are in deep shit, Bucko! The shit has hit the fan! Whatever you did is going to come back to haunt you. The best thing you can do is try to fix whatever you did.
“As police officers, we’re ready to put our lives on the line to save the lives of others. We may joke and kid around with each other, sometimes, but when the shit hits the fan, it’s time to rock and roll. You don’t think about dying. The adrenaline takes over and you react. Seldom do you have time to think about what you are doing. Instead, you think about staying alive, at all costs, even if it means breaking the rules. Deep down, you know you need to survive, just to avoid putting your family and friends through that hell.”
-- Jason Medina
Can my ex leave her children with me without my permission while I am moving out?
Not if it isn’t your time with the kids, or they aren't your kids. If it is, and they are, you should have planned better.
Why is it that some people get married and continue to divorce? If by the third marriage, why didn't you just stay single?
Ignorance, in lieu of saying stupidity. Try marrying your “bestest” friend. Or, do what I did after my divorce. I found a woman I have been with for over 20 years. We aren’t married, but we are great friends.
Reader comment: Celebrities Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds were great friends before they started dating. It is good advice to be friends with someone first.

My reply: Indeed.

I hate children. Why do they even exist? They're annoying as f#%k.
You were annoying as f#%k? Unbelievable.
Have you ever experienced getting tired of giving help without receiving any in return, even when you may need it later on in life?
I get tired, but not from giving help with no payback. I just get tired from helping. Unfortunately, it is what I do, being retired… twice. “Later in life” is why I have a “partner in life.” Helping people is a “selfless” project I do with a smile.
Would a woman at 25 be considered a young girl?
No. She is a young woman.
What is your argument to disprove an atheist?
Neither party, atheist and theist, can come up with a cogent argument to disprove each other. The best they can do is shut the hell up and wait until they die. They both may find death is final. Or, the theist may find another life after this one, while the atheist will never know. Nobody has any proof until they die. They could be both wrong.
“People should be left to believe what they like, so long as they harm no one else. Apart from normal expectations of politeness, it is not however clear why people should require their personal beliefs to be treated with special sensitivity by others, to the point that if others fail to tip-toe respectfully around them they will start throwing bombs.”
