Has the fact that everyone knows every detail of your life brought you good or bad returns?

No one knows “every detail” of my life, and no one should. Most of my life is no one’s business, and what they do know I allow them to know. as much as some would like to see it come to pass, this is not communist China, or North Korea, or any other communist or socialist state, as yet.

If you could make your own "philosophical phrase" or profound statement, like "life is like a box of chocolates" or "all things come to those who wait", what would it be?

Strive to be happy always, because the alternative simply sucks.

When do you think that luck is real?

Luck is simply “chance” and “chance” is always real. There is a real chance that anything will go well or fail. You can mitigate the chance of failure through knowledge and hard work, but “chance” still exists that success might be the deserved outcome due to the mitigation one has taken to ward off failure. So, there is always the chance that things will succeed, fail, or simply stay the same.

Why do some successful people at some point think they don't deserve it? What do you think?

Maybe they didn’t really work for it. Maybe they come to a realization that their success was built on the backs of the workers who made it happen for them. Maybe they discover a sense of humility.

Do you believe that communication is important in our lives? Why or why not?

Yes. Communication is how information, critical or trivial, travels from one point to another and how feedback returns to the source.

How does Hebrews 12:27 apply to 2020 in your life? : This expression, “Yet once more,” denotes the removing of those things which can be shaken, as of created things, so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.

It doesn’t apply in my life. That which cannot be shaken is nothing, so we can take from this that “nothing” will remain. Yet, if God created all, then we can assume that God also created nothing. So, am I to take from this that shaking nothing is beyond the power of God? I think not. It doesn’t apply in my life because it makes little sense, and my God would not say something that makes such little sense. That which is passed down by man can always be misinterpreted by man. Perhaps this is an example.

It doesn’t necessarily follow. What if you have no will to live and, therefore, have prepared to die? As for me, I’m very prepared to die, but it’s the last thing I’d be willing to consider since there is so much more living I’m looking forward to enjoying.

Why won't the President answer questions after he reads a speech? He should be able to explain his positions.

Explain his positions? We’re talking about Biden, right? First, Pelosi would have to tell him what his "position" is supposed to be, if she lets him answer questions, to begin with.

Are you innately negative or positive?

I’m always positive, even when I’m negative. I can be positively pissed off, at times, and then it positively passes. I strive to be positively happy always!

Why is it important to list experiences that support your positive or negative beliefs about yourself?

Is it? So, in other words, I’m supposed to find the time to be listing experiences? I think I’ll just be me, make the best choices I can in my life, and let the chips fall where they may. It has worked so far, except for that nasty little divorce. One mistake, and I try not to dwell on it in favor of being happy always.

The expression "writing on the wall" means there are clear signs that a situation is going to become very difficult or unpleasant if you stay on the path you're on. How has this saying worked in your life?

Pretty well. I’ve always had pretty good intuition.

If you would have only two choices, which would you like to choose, work in a position you don't like in a rich country with better living standards, or work in a position you want to work in a poor country with worse living standards?

I’ve done poor countries pretty well. Living conditions are what you make of them. I’ve always been good at making a purse out of a sow’s ear.  It is, after all, part of the adventure.

Questioning Opinions, Wisdom, and Self

Why do you think that humans so often think those with a different opinion on an issue have not thought it through or are ill-informed rather than have a different life experience and environment which causes the different opinion?

Ego. Most people would like to believe they’re “all that” when they’re really not. I find this with intelligent people who see no difference between being intelligent and being smart. If they have both, they might have room to talk, otherwise, they need to focus on what they’re good at.

Which are more valuable to society, artists or businessmen?

To society, businessmen. For the communication of emotion in the world, artists.

How do you define "know thyself"?

Know your measure, or, in simpler terms, what you are capable of. The depth of your love, work, friendship, loyalty, honesty, faith, and other morally important ethics that define you. If you don’t know yourself, how do you know what, if anything, you are capable of? If you don’t know yourself, how do you dare stand in judgment of another master’s servant?

Ever seen a lion motivated? There’s a reason why big cats rest so much. The calories they burn up taking down prey are about equal to the prey they just took down, whether they actually take it down or not.

Is your life extraordinary?

My life has been, but I have opted for a more sedate retirement. My body suffers from the aches and pains of one's adventurous and misspent youth, and a military career that, fortunately, wasn’t all about the office.

Start by researching moral ethics, then develop your own personal code of them. Once you have a good foundation of ethics, it will be much easier to develop a personal philosophy based on them.

It is a much better route to solving the problem than becoming part of it. The only way you become part of the problem is if you understand it and do nothing.

Should I work in a job I don't really like as a start if there is no alternative?

Work is work. It is a paycheck. Work hard, don’t complain, and look for better. This is your choice, so complaining is not an option.

How does making bad choices make us bad?

If you make the bad choice for all the wrong reasons. For instance, choosing to rob a bank. There is never a good reason to rob a bank since you are breaking a law and you know it. This makes you a bad person.

You make a bad choice looking for love; they’re a bank robber, but you didn’t know it. The bad choice was for all the right reasons, they were just the wrong person. You’re not a bad person, just a bit naive.

What’s the best choice you’ve made to improve your life?

I chose to be happy always. Life has never been better.

My 11-year-old son lashed out at me for making his PB&J "the wrong way." He's now complaining he doesn't want to eat cafeteria food. What should I do?

Disown him. He’s 11 years old, he can make his own damned sandwich.

Questioning Knowledge, Truth, and Life

What do you regret that you never learned in school?

Algebra. Mathematics is a required course in college, but I could never overcome my fear of it enough to take the course. Having said that, I could always help my son with his algebra homework, which was odd.

Should we put human life into mathematical equations (e.g. 1 human life＜2 human life)?

No, because, once you do, it will be proved wrong. Human life is what it is, but it is also abstract at the most inopportune times. Life changes, constantly. There are some aspects that can be statistical until the statistics change. They’re still statistical but changed, so how good are the statistics? We need to embrace that they’re as good as we can get for the time indicated.

If you were given control over nature, what would you change about life?

Climate, worldwide crop production, and potable water availability.

What do bad managers do that drive good employees to quit?

Poor communication skills, inequitable workloads, unrealistic timelines, all an obvious lack of job knowledge and understanding that just might reflect the business culture.

What if you are the problem?

Well, then, shame on you! This is when you ask yourself, why, and hope you can give an honest answer. If you can’t, then you’re probably still in denial.

Are you willing to accept the truth about your current situation?

Oh, my, yes! I stopped decorating my current situation with bullshit years ago. Better to just make it all good so you don’t have to worry about it, then you can strive to be happy always.

How can I keep from being impatient when it seems my goals in life are being achieved so slowly?

Try to remember it isn’t about the destination, or how fast you get there. It is all about the journey, what you learn, and who you meet, along the way. Instead of paying attention to patience, try paying attention to the moment, making good choices in the moment, and being happy in the moment and always. The rest will take care of itself.

What are some everyday skills that you wish were taught in school?

Stress reduction, meditation, how to be happy always, how to ask “why” everything happens and how to answer it honestly.

Is reading books and educational content necessary for success and wealth accumulation?

Not always, but you’re either going to pay someone to do what you don’t know how to, or you’re going to have one hell of a lucky streak. Better you should read and get an education so at least you’ll know if who you’re paying is “cooking the books.”

Is life a 'patience' game or a luck one?

Life is a “working for what you want” game. You can be patient or you can be lucky, or you can work your ass off and actually feel like you earned what you got in life. It’s a concept.

Are you up to something?

Always. If you’re not “up to something,” what is the point of life?

What's the meaning of Plato's quote, “Believed that genuine happiness can only be achieved by people who consistently make sure their reason is in control of their spirits and appetites”?

This is not a quote by Plato, but by someone commenting on Plato’s belief: “Plato believed that genuine happiness can only be achieved by people who consistently make sure that their Reason is in control of their Spirits and Appetites.” 

I always state that life is about making good and right choices and decisions. In this way, you have used reason to ensure your choices and decisions are the right ones and, thus, controlled your varied spirits and appetites. One must be in control of what, why, where, and how they do things, and who they do those things with. Making the wrong choices certainly doesn’t ensure happiness follows.

Who between a child and a fool is to be trusted as a source for truth?

I would opt for the innocence of a child, depending on the age. A fool is a fool for reason, and foolishness has no place around the truth. I think a child, as they grow older, generally learns to be a fool from those around them before they learn to be better due to the consequences of foolishness.

What do I do if I lose everyone and everything?

Ask yourself why this happened. Take ownership of the choices and decisions you made that contributed heavily to your consequences. Learn from what you find out, and then start over and strive to do better.

What are 7 years of not having a smile on my face?

A tragic waste. One must strive to be happy always, even in the face of adversity. Life is much too short for us to choose to allow anything else in our lives.

Questions of Positive Thinking

Do you agree that an enemy is somebody who is proactively working against your interests (by definition)?

I can agree with that, but I prefer this definition: “A person who is actively opposed or hostile to someone or something.” The enemy of my friend may, very well, become my enemy if I see no sense in their threats toward them or attacks upon them. They are not working against my interests, but they are working against the interests of those I care about. They may not agree that we are enemies, in which case they have the option to back off.

In this same way, a probable opponent, which I have tactically ignored, may have more interests in subjugating my “declared” enemy. The enemy of my enemy is now my friend. This is a way of keeping a “probable” enemy closer and learning more about their tactics and weaknesses should they ever think of attacking.

Who are you, and what's your value?

I am and, as such, I am valuable! I am the only one who can declare my value because I am the only one who knows what I am truly worth.

Generally speaking, do you think it is right or at least understandable to get an attitude with somebody because they gave you one first?

No. If someone gives you attitude for no reason, it says more about them than you. If they give you attitude for a reason, better you examine why before you cop an attitude back, or it may say volumes about you, instead.

Would you rather listen to a person bitch and complain, constantly, or listen to someone who finds a solution through positive thinking? People are drawn to those who just don’t bitch and complain, but actually come up with solutions. They see the positive solutions to “insurmountable” issues. They also tend to smile more. You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.

Who is the most successful positive influencer of all time? Why?

In modern times, Dr. Norman Vincent Peale! He wrote the book, literally, and I have been reading it since about 1965 when I was able to understand “The Power of Positive Thinking” (1952). What is the role of encouragement in everybody's life?

Teaching a “can do” attitude. If parents would spend more time encouraging children to succeed and how to be happy always, the world might move forward at a more rapid pace.

Why is it “easier to fool people than convince them they have been fooled” as Mark Twain said? What’s the psychology behind this, and can you see this happening in society repeatedly over time, or are things worse now?

Ego. Nobody wants to admit they’re an easy mark. This is proven daily by mass media as they tell us bullshit and we buy into it.

What used to be cool and isn’t anymore that you’re glad of?

To understand the goal of our life, do we need to talk with ourselves, discuss it with others, or get inspiration from others?

Discuss it with others for inspiration, then talk it over with yourself for validation. In the end, it is your life, not someone else's. You have to make the final decision and live with the outcome. Others may earn a pat on the back for being right, but you can never shift blame onto them if they’re wrong. It was your decision to go in that direction. 

What is the cure for anxiety from a philosophical point of view?

Focus, particularly on the moment. What’s done is done, what will happen is uncertain. Better to focus on making better choices in the “now” than worrying about what has already happened or on that which may not.

What is a wise thing to do before planning a wedding that has nothing to do with the money?

Make sure you really want to get married. Go through those vows and ensure you really plan to abide by them. If any of this is questionable, maybe you need to hold off… or find new partners.

Without specifically thinking about sex, under what circumstances does your mind accelerate creating fantasies?

It happens when I “generally” think about sex, as well. But, sex notwithstanding, I’d have to say my dream state would probably have this effect. When you think of how long the average dream lasts, and how much is crammed into that short amount of time, it makes some sense.

Do you consider yourself as hot stuff?

I’m too humble to determine this. I’d have to refer you to the multitude of women I’ve dated.

Why do lecturers feel superior to their students?

Just offhand, if the student were superior to the lecturer, they’d be giving the lecture.

Questioning Life, Importance, and Happiness

How do you explain why is it important for a business to be successful?

So they can stay in business. A successful business is only sustainable because of the constant business they do. No business, no success.

Could we be happy only by doing our best for the good of others? What do you think?

Nope. I strive to be happy always. Now, doing selfless things for the good of others is just the right thing to do. This will also make you exceedingly happy with yourself. 

Do we have people born without any talent at all?

I was born without any talent, except, perhaps, to learn what interested me. I barely learned the basics scool had to offer, especially how to read. Then I taught myself how to research. I almost didn’t graduate high school. The classes didn’t interest me. I had to, pretty much, teach myself what I know. Military intelligence taught me the rest. What I learned, ultimately, was critical analysis and how to write. I taught myself art and woodcarving, then I learned woodwork.  Technology escapes me, for the most part.  If I was born with any talent, it was how to learn what I wanted to know.

Is it normal when people put you down and you feel hate for yourself?

No, it isn’t. It might point out you have something you need to work on, though. If so, make sure you thank them for the critique. If they keep on doing it, make sure others hear them. This kind of constant “put down” says more about them than about you. Whatever you do, don’t get into a pissing match with them or you’ll both look bad.

Why would truth be better than ambiguity?

Truth is what it is. Ambiguity is pretty, well, ambiguous. You can never be really sure just what it is.

When you are born, are you in the process of living or dying?

Both. Once the spark of life is ignited, your clock starts ticking down. Your purpose is to live life, learn much, and be well prepared for the next “spark” when you’re reborn.

What do you need that is not inside you?

That would depend on the who, what, and why of it. Who’s doing it, what “it” is, and why I need “it” inside of me.

What is one thing that amazes you every day?

Life! And I thank God for the gift of it, every day. Nothing is more amazing than watching the parade of such varied life, on this world.

Why do we all have a different perspective about happiness?

Unfortunately, yes, we do. Some people actually still think you can purchase it. Some people think it is fleeting and they always have to look for it. Some people think it’s sex until they get an STD, and then, not so much. Happiness is a conscious choice each of us must make for our lives. We have to make the conscious choice to strive to be truly happy always.

Why is success so related to fame and wealth, and what is true success?

Society has linked success to those since forever, but true success is when you find happiness in life always. True success has little to do with monetary wealth or fame. The only thing most of these people truly are… is miserable.

What decision is most important in life?

To be happy always. It is a conscious choice each of us must make for our life. Strive for happiness, regardless of your circumstances.

How do you deal with life-threatening situations?

I don’t get involved with them. If I had to, I would do what would be expected of me. No greater gift is there than to give your life for your fellows, but, I much rather not, given the choice. “Yep! That looks pretty life-threatening, alright. I’ll be over here, watching. Yell out, if you need some help.”

I'm all about entertaining and keeping a reader on the edge of their seat, so to me, the social issues have to be meaningful and give the book what's really 'at stake,' but ultimately it's not about them - it's always a personal story of everyday people thrust into life-threatening situations and having to perform heroic acts.

I cook a lot. I expect honesty.

Don’t worry about it.

Everything in your life is by your choice.

What is something you had at 13 but don't have now?

Mahogany.

How can I realize the immensity of "I don't know"?

Make knowing nothing the only thing you know for sure.

If you had to disappear and start a whole new life, similar to getting a new life such as after squealing on the drug cartel, what would you want your new life to look like?

Secret, so you don’t know what it looks like.

Questions of Problems, Fights, and Teaching

What happens when you wait too long to have a medical procedure?

Worst case scenario? Death. 

Is it unfair to allow your parents to pay for your wedding and not allow them to invite any of their church friends?

Ya think?

Is all human knowledge relative? If that's true, what's the truth in life?

Everything is relative.  The real question, though?  Relative to what?  I'm not sure what knowledge being relative to has anything to do with "truth in life", but, I think the "truth in life" is that change is the only real constant in the universe.

Why do people agree to things they know they can't do?

A very probably dangerous need to be seen as useful in the “temporary” eyes of others, depending on how big the blast will be.

What can some people say when they say "infinite patience produces immediate results"?

I would explain, “Unfortunately, the “immediate results” aren’t necessarily what you’re exercising “infinite patience” to attain. But, you go with that. I’ll be in the strip club across the street when you’re done or have had enough of patience.”

Do you know that popular or majority thought does not establish truth?

Truth is established by facts, not a popular majority vote, especially if that vote was rife with fraud. Was does establish the truth is when the lie becomes very painfully apparent. Beware of what is popular, or what the “majority” think they know. You may find the truth has been with you all along, you just couldn’t recognize it for all the bullshit the “majority” kept throwing into the ether.

Are you aware that all your dreams can come true if you have the courage to pursue them?

Yes. And?

How can teachers maximize the strengths of behaviorism when applied to the classroom? How can teachers minimize the weakness of behaviorism?

I give real money if we could just get teachers to teach. Ignore the unions and do what they’re getting paid to do. It’s kind of a concept most seem to keep not understanding. Once they can teach facts, not opinion, and stop spouting political ideology, then maybe they can work on “behaviorism” in the classroom, as long as it doesn’t proliferate some insidious racist indoctrination like Critical Race Theory.

Why should you start a fight if you're gonna lose! Why start a journey that you won't finish! Is the problem humans have that no matter how hard they strive to find something the answer will always be the same?

Such negativity. I’ll always stand up for my ethical principles, especially to protect those who cannot protect themselves. Most freedom-loving people will do this, whether we win or not. Recently the leadership in the United States has forgotten self-respect. We have “tucked tail” and run away, leaving friends and countrymen to fend for themselves or die. This is not what we are about. Our leaders are, temporarily, cowards. We will rectify this, in short order, and go back to do what we should have done in the first place. We usually find what we look for, even if we lose it for a time, and the answer isn’t always the same.

Most of us already have a problem with “multi-tasking” so multiple minds would create the chaos of multiple personalities. I might as well be married again.

My car is in the shop for repairs, which wouldn’t be a problem if the grocery store was within walking distance.

What is the happiest truth to life?

The happiest truth to life is life itself. The alternative is non-life, and that simply sucks. Better to strive for happiness always. Every morning, thank God for the gift of another day in paradise and another chance to excel in life. It is, after all, why we’re here.

Why do they say destiny can only be delayed but you can't run from it? Is it true?

It’s always good to look at the definition: Destiny: “The events that will necessarily happen to a particular person or thing in the future; the hidden power believed to control what will happen in the future; fate.”

What will happen, will happen, and you really can’t even delay it since the delay is already programmed into the event that will happen. How do you delay or run from something you have little or no knowledge of? Destiny can’t be delayed, nor can you run from it. It is what it is.

Is it important to have someone in your life to poke holes in your reasoning?

Yes! They are the “backboard” you bounce things off of; the second opinion we use to affirm our choices and decisions are sound. Without them, we wander through this life as best we can, hoping we will always do the right thing. A second or third, or fourth opinion is always welcomed.
